Yesterday the new iPhone got announced. Which means millions of people are about to look at their phones and think... “Damn. I need a new phone” 😭 |

Because they KNOW what they're doing. One year the screen is 12 inches. Next year the screen is 12.3 inches. Then the camera gets a little better. Then the battery… |
Isn’t it ironic how they make improvements on their own things? It’s kinda like they could’ve just done that all at once 🤔 |
That’s the game… They keep giving you a reason to upgrade by just improving what they already make. |
Here's the thing: Something new coming out doesn't make the one you already have worse. |
So here are 5 things you already own that are perfectly fine. |
1. An iPhone |
Let's start with the obvious one. Does it turn on? Does it take pictures? Can you text your mom? Can you waste 45 minutes on TikTok? Shoot, you’re probably reading this newsletter on your phone LOL |

I'm not saying you should NEVER upgrade your phone. But there should be an actual reason besides “a new one came out.” |
The Responsible Adult move: When you finally need a new phone, look at last year's model too. The second the newest one comes out, the previous generation might suddenly become a much smarter buy. |
2. A Water Bottle That Works |
I can't believe I'm even writing this one 😭 Hydro Flask. Stanley. Owala. And next year I'm sure we'll all be drinking out of something else. |
Meanwhile... THEY ALL HOLD WATERRR!!!!! It’s F*CKING WATER!!!!!!!!!! |
If you already have a water bottle that doesn't leak and keeps your water cold, YOUR WATER BOTTLE IS FINE. |
Some of you guys are out here collecting water bottles and your water intake STILL SUCKS 😂
The Responsible Adult move: Please, for the love of god, drink half your body weight in water every day. If you weigh 180 lbs, drink 90 oz. of water. I don’t want any of you getting kidney stones out here. |
3. Clothes That Fit You |
This one's a little different because I'm NOT gonna sit here and tell you to NEVER buy new clothes. Sometimes your style changes. Your body changes. Or sometimes you just want some new stuff. THAT'S FINE. |
Before you spend $500 replacing half your closet, make your old clothes pay for the new ones. |
The Responsible Adult move: Take your clothes to other places besides Goodwill. Try Plato’s Closet, Uptown Cheapskate, or any other resale store. They’ll actually pay you cash for your clothes. You can make like $200 off of the clothes you have now. BOOM. That's $200 towards some new clothes. |
4. A Car That Drives You Around |
My gosh, this one gets a lot of you. |
Your car does not become bad because the new model has a bigger screen. Does yours start? Is it reliable? Does the AC work? Does it have tires on it? |
YOUR CAR IS FINE. 😭 |
A new model coming out doesn't make the one sitting in your driveway worse. Take care of it. Keep it longer. |
The Responsible Adult move: Take care of the car you have now. The more you maintain it (cleaning, maintenance) the more it’ll hold its value. When you eventually DO need another car, aim for cars that are NOT brand new. Car dealerships always need to get rid of last year’s models to clear space on their lots, so you get better discounts :) |
5. Working Technology |
I'm grouping the rest of this together because it’s insane how all of this technology now mingles with each other and everything is expensive AS HECK 😭 |
Your Apple Watch. Your iPad. Your laptop. Your TV. Your headphones. Your Amazon Alexa. Your Firestick.
If you add all this crap up, it’s like $10,000 for all of it!!!! |
YOUR TECH IS PERFECTLY FINE. |
Use it until it gives you an actual reason to replace it. That’s it. |
